This / That / These / Those

Demonstratives show which thing and whether it is near.

• Near, one: this book
• Near, more than one: these books
• Farther, one: that car
• Farther, more than one: those cars

• This is my phone.
• These are my keys.
• I don't like that film.
• Those people are my neighbours.

After this/that/these/those do not add a/an: this car, not this a car.
