Numerals (quantitative, ordinal)

Cardinal numbers: one, two, three … ten, eleven, twelve, twenty, twenty-one, a hundred.

Ordinals (order): usually -th: fourth, sixth. Exceptions: first, second, third, fifth, eighth, ninth, twelfth.

• I have two cats.
• Her birthday is on the 3rd of March. (third)
• This is my first lesson.

Use the with dates and order: the first of May, the second floor.
