Sentences and Constructions: Conjunctions, Comparisons, and Conditional Sentences

Conjunctions join clauses. At A2 the core set is and, but, or, because, so, although.

• I was tired, so I went to bed.
• Although it was raining, we went out.
• I stayed at home because I was ill.

Comparisons

• than: cheaper than
• as ... as: not as expensive as
• too / enough: too small · big enough (enough stands after an adjective)

First Conditional

A real future condition: if + Present Simple, will + infinitive.

• If it rains, we will stay at home.
• If you study, you will pass.
• I won't go out if I feel tired.

Not: If it will rain in the if-clause (rare exceptions exist; at A2 keep Present after if).

Zero conditional (a fact): If you heat ice, it melts. — Present + Present.
